With the addition of Physical Sciences new storm drains were
constructed to manage storm water runoff. The photo on the
left is an example of above ground runoff management in a
drainage swale. The swale is rock lined to prevent erosion and
to add surface roughness which decreases the flow rate. The
swale conveys storm water along the east side of the building.
At the corner of the building the swale terminates in a catch
basin. From the catch basin the flows are piped to an outfall
(photo at right) in the forest to the west of PSB and Sinsheimer.
